Corvinus University of Budapest has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The university said on Wednesday that is it the first institution of higher education in Hungary to obtain AACSB accreditation.

AACSB accreditation is an acknowledgment of schools that "prove their excellence in all areas: in instruction and research, through the development of courses and students' education results", AACSB VP Stephanie Bryant said.

Corvinus University dean Zoltán Szántó called the accreditation "a milestone" for the implementation of the school's strategy.

AACSB has accredited 954 institutions in 59 countries.
