Logistics

East-West Gate, a HUF 30 billion intermodal logistics terminal in Fényeslitke (290 km northeast of Budapest), near Hungary's border with Ukraine, was inaugurated this week, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said East-West Gate will play an "enormous role" in facilitating exports of Ukrainian grain to trade routes on the Adriatic.

He added that transshipment capacity at the terminal would reach about 800 tonnes of grain per hour, while annual capacity stands at one million containers. About 500 people will work at East-West Gate.
