Moldova February industrial output falls on year

Industrial production in Moldova shrank by 4.4% year-on-year in February, following a downwardly revised 13.4% increase in the previous month, economic portal Trading Economics reported citing data from the Chişinău-based National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

It was the first decline in industrial activity since January of 2021.

Manufacturing output decreased by 3%, while electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply fell by 11.9%.

On the other hand, mining production continued to expand further by 75.8% (vs 64.7% in January).

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose by 1.3%, reversing a 29.9% slump in the previous month.
