Transport

Balázs Bogáts, the deputy CEO of Budapest Airport, the operator of Ferenc Liszt International, talked about the future of Hungary's main air gate, its plans and new destinations in the winter season in an interview with novekedes.hu.

Bogáts said that the summer season's most popular destinations were Turkey and Egypt. Wizz Air's three flights to Saudi Arabia also exceeded expectations. The airport's traffic reached 90% of the 2019 record this summer.

The flight expansion team performed well. Thanks to its work, the Budapest-Ningbo (China) route was established. Travelers may also reach Belfast from the Hungarian capital, and multiple airlines increased the number of flights on their existing routes.

The number of passengers will exceed 14 million in 2023, which will increase to 16 million in 2024. Bogáts said inflation di d not hit foreign passengers as much as Hungarians. Furthermore, Budapest and Hungary remained an attractive destination for tourists.
