Lithuania Retail Sales Shrink Sligthly in August

Retail sales in Lithuania fell by 0.9% year-on-year in August, the seventh consecutive month of decline in retail activity, although easing from an upwardly revised 2% drop in the previous month, data from the Vilnius-based Statistics Lithuania (LS) on Wednesday show.
Sales rebounded for non-food products (0.9% vs -2.5% in July), while decreased less for food, beverages & tobacco (-3.2% vs -5.8%). Meanwhile, sales declined for automotive fuel in specialized stores (-0.8% vs 5.1%).
On a monthly comparison basis, retail sales went up 4.2% in August, following an upwardly revised 0.7% drop in the previous month.
