Estonia Retail Sales Drop in October

Estonian retail trade fell by 4.8% year-on-year in October, following a 6.7% decline in the previous month, data from the Tallinn-based Statistics Estonia (SE) on Wednesday show.

It was the 14th straight month of contraction in retail activity, but the softest pace since November 2022. Among stores selling manufactured goods, the decline in turnover was 27% in stores selling via mail order; other non-specialized stores selling computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games, toys (-14%); household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials (-11%). By contrast, retail trade grew for pharmacies and cosmetics (4%).

On a monthly basis, retail trade grew 2.0% in October, the most in five months, rebounding from a 4.7% fall in September.
