Sziget Sells out First Night of Return

In Budapest

Sziget, Hungary's biggest music festival, drew a capacity crowd on opening day, after a two-year break because of the pandemic, according to state news agency MTI.

"The festival has a maximum daily capacity of 95,000 people, so we had to stop ticket sales for the day at 10:00 in the evening on Monday. Looking at the way tickets are going, we can expect similar sell-out crowds on Friday and Saturday, too," chief organiser Tamás Kádár said.

Dua Lipa was the headliner on Wednesday. Justin Bieber and Stromae will play the main stage on Friday, and Calvin Harris and Lewis Capaldi will headline on Saturday.

Artists from 54 countries are performing for festival-goers from 103 countries at this year's six-day Sziget, which takes place on an island in the Danube.
