XpatLoop is holding its annual “Bonfire Night” charity event on November 4 in the Budapest Marriott Hotel’s Ballroom, supporting the “Make-a-wish” (Csodalámpa) Foundation, SOS Children’s Village, Lions Club of Budapest, United Way, and other trusted charities for Hungarian children in need, according to a press release issued yesterday.

Participants in the event are promised “another cosmopolitan affair, combining local and international tastes, as wine tasting will feature 30 fine wines from ten Hungarian producers,” the press statement says. Food sponsors of the event include Whitney bag, Miele (canapés) and Peppers Restaurant (finger food).

Donations of at least HUF 7,000 per guest ensure entry, with all money raised on the night going straight to charity, the organizers say. A live auction will also be held to make sure those in need receive support. The auction will feature two Turkish Airlines tickets to “anywhere in the world.” Another prize will be a film set visit via Adam Goodman, who is the owner of Mid Atlantic Films.

Participating in a business card lottery, guests will have a chance to win prizes including a bottle of brandy from Edward Quinlan, plus gifts from City Taxi, Etyeki Kúria, Okay Italia, ExpatShop.hu, FirstMed, Whiskynet.hu, Trattoria Toscana, CinemaCity, and many other.

British Ambassador Iain Lindsay will be this year’s Guest of Honor, with other VIP attendees including film producer Adam Goodman, Budapest Marriott Hotel GM Rick Enders, and FirstMed founder Dennis Diokno.

“We’d like to sincerely thank everyone involved for all their support each year. Over the last decade together we’ve raised over HUF 9 million to support local charities,” said Stephen Linfitt, XpatLoop.com publisher. “The goal this year is to ensure guests have another great evening of social networking fun, and collect as much as HUF 3 million on the night to help Hungarian children in need,” he added.
