One more group flees Röszke holding center

A few hundred refugees fled the holding center at Röszke early this afternoon, running past a loose police barricade, according to reports. This is the second such breakout in the past 24 hours.

The group is said to be making their way along Route 5 towards Szeged.

Several scuffles have broken out in the past few days at the Röszke holding center near the Serbian border. Refugees have to wait there until they can be shuttled by bus to the nearby refugee camp, also in Röszke, to be registered. There are apparently not enough buses and refugees are growing impatient with the rudimentary conditions at the holding center.

One group fled last night but they were eventually convinced by police to get on a bus to the nearby refugee camp. There are very limited facilities at the holding center including no shelter, nor food or water – apart from what is provided by volunteer organizations, according to reports.
