Hungary could raise HUF 6 billion-8 billion from the sale of EU emission allowance (EUA) carbon credits by the end of 2012, National Development Minister Tamás Fellegi said in a response posted on the website of Parliament to a question by opposition MP Imre Szabó, the environment minister in the previous government.
Bilateral sales of Assigned Amount Unit (AAU) emissions credits are “very volatile” but sales of EUA credits under the European Union Emission Trading Scheme, which is still being established, will bring in HUF 6 billion-8 billion “with much certainty”, Fellegi said. About half of the proceeds could be realized in 2011, he added. (MTI-Econews)
