EU regulators clear Dassault's buy of IBM unit

French technology company Dassault Systemes gained European Union regulatory approval on Monday for its takeover of a unit of U.S. computer services firm IBM.

Dassault is buying IBM Systemes PLM (IBM DS) software business, its customer contracts and related assets.

“The (European) Commission's investigation showed that Dassault Systemes and IBM DS are not regarded as competitors since under their contractual arrangement they each generally focus on selling to different types of customers,” the EU executive said in a statement. (Reuters)
