European Court of Human Rights rules in favor of Hungarian real estate manager
The Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday awarded compensation to Budapest-registered real estate manager Miracle Europe Ingatlankezelő, declaring that the Hungarian state violated the companyʼs right to fair trial in the companyʼs litigation.

Under the courtʼs unanimous decision, the Hungarian state is to pay compensation of €11,000 plus litigation costs to the plaintiff within three months.
The court declared that it is contrary to the European Convention on Human Rights that the hearing of the companyʼs lawsuit was transferred to a court that was not regionally competent.
Miracle Europe Ingatlankezelő submitted a lawsuit against Semmelweis University over a legal dispute. The hearing was to be held in Budapest but the head of the Hungarian National Office for the Judiciary, exercising her right, designated the Municipal Court of Zalaegerszeg, western Hungary, for the trial.
The lawsuit was rejected by the Court of Zalaegerszeg, then the Pécs Court of Appeals and finally by the Curia (Supreme Court) as well. The company turned to the Strasbourg court in June 2013 after their complaint was rejected by the Constitutional Court.
