Szijjártó calls Austrian leader’s plan for migrants ‘silliness’

Austrian Chancellor Werner Fayman does not see the difference between “solidarity and silliness”, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said yesterday, in reaction to the chancellor’s comments about migration in an interview with Austrian daily Österreich and TV channel ORF.

The chancellor reportedly criticized the Visegrád countries for going against the initiatives of Austria in the matter of refugees. He said that everyone who arrives to Europe should be registered in “external receiving centers” and those who are found to be refugees should be distributed among all EU member countries.
Hungaryʼs Szijjártó said he believes that “solidarity” is when people in trouble are helped close to their home in a worthy environment, so that when the conflict is settled they can return home, MTI reported. While “silliness” is if somebody wants to bring millions of “migrants” into Europe uncontrolled, so that Europeans and migrants can both see “they are not receiving what they have expected”, MTI added.
Szijjártó reportedly said that the Austrian chancellor “as usual, is lying about Hungary”, and is trying to bring more “immigrants” into Europe and spread them to other countries under the compulsory quota system.
