Report: Croatia could let refugees sneak into Hungary

If Hungary decides to close the Hungarian-Croatian border, the government of Croatia will send refugees to Hungary without escorting them to border crossings and without helping them organize their routes, Croatian daily Vecernji List reported yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The daily noted that, although Hungary is accepting refugees arriving from Croatia, it is likely that this “will not happen forever”. If Hungary closes the border, Croatia would let refugees cross the border in “a chaotic manner, without being supervised, making it harder for Hungarian authorities to register them,” the daily reported.

Croatia’s Prime Minister Zoran Milanović said on Friday afternoon, that, since his country has reached its limit on handling refugees, it will continue to transport refugees to Hungary by bus and train, according to the daily.
