Austria is considering building a fence on its border with Hungary to limit human trafficking from this country, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Austriaʼs Minister of the Interior, said today, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

In an interview with an Austrian public television channel, the minister confirmed that the borders of Austria will still be protected, and if necessary a fence could be built, while more police and soldiers could be deployed at the borders, MTI added.

Mikl-Leitner said that Austria continues to receive 100 asylum request every day, and if this tendency remains, they could reach their intake limit of 37,500 by autumn. The minister said further measures could be taken in the future to alleviate these concerns, MTI reported.
