Police remove refugees from Munich-bound train on Saturday night
Hungarian riot police where called to the scene at Keleti station on Saturday night after a break in was reported in the area and police soon discovered that 150 foreigners without proper documentation had boarded the Munich-bound train, scheduled to depart Keleti station at 9 p.m, online daily nol.hu reported on Sunday.
A number of police buses arrived at Keleti Station on Saturday night following the report of a break in in the vicinity of the station, according to the report. Of the 150 passengers who had boarded the train without proper documentation, 81 were diverted to designated transit stations, while a deportation process was initiated against several of these. Twenty-nine individuals were transported to the Airport Police Directorate, and nine people were handed over to staff from the Office of Immigration and Nationality, the daily said.
After being ushered off the trains, a handful of refugees positioned themselves on the tracks in protest, nol.hu said. Riot police reportedly escorted the leaders of the protest to the station’s waiting room and cordoned off the sleeper cars from the remainder of the carriages. The train finally departed at 1:30 a.m. and several of the train’s passengers angered by the delay, blamed the refugees, nol.hu reported.
