The reason for the closure, according to the announcement, is that safe  “conditions for border crossings cannot be ensured”.

According to Hungarian news reports, following the stricter border crossing laws that took effect this morning, many refugees are now lining up at the Hungarian border in Serbia, waiting to enter Hungary through the few official entry points where they are legally allowed to enter and initiate their asylum procedures.

The announcement notes that the Hungarian Police have informed the Serbian Police about the closure and adds that, once “conditions for border crossings can be controlled, regular border crossings will be reinstated”.
