PM nominates Szijjártó for foreign minister
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán today nominated Péter Szijjártó, incumbent state secretary, for the post of minister of foreign affairs and trade, the head of the PM's press office reported.
Tibor Navracsics, who has filled the post up to now, has been nominated for European commissioner, and tendered his resignation as foreign minister earlier in the day.
Szijjártó is to be appointed by President János Áder, following his hearings by parliamentary committees.
The prime minister has suggested that the mandates of Navracsics as foreign minister and of Szijjártó as state secretary should be terminated on September 22.
