While insisting that the U.S. elections are the “business of the Americans” and has no intention of seeking to influence the vote, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said yesterday that the migration policies of candidate Donald Trump are good for Europe and vital for Hungary.

Orbán was asked by a journalist to clarify his earlier comments on Trump at a press conference after his meeting with Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern.

Comparing the migration policies of the Democrats and the Republicans, Orbán said that the Trump’s migration policies are “good for Europe and mean the life for Hungary”, while that of the Democrats is bad for Europe and is lethal for Hungary, online daily index.hu reported.

Trump has expressed opposition to free migration and has said he would build a wall on his countryʼs southern border to keep migrants out. Orbán has overseen the construction of a fence on his own countryʼs southern border to keep migrants out.

Comparing the opinions of the American Democratic and Republican parties, Orbán said yesterday: “One finds building democracy in its foreign policies important, while the other is against building democracy. Hungary is against democracy export and is against migration. This makes it clear what are the interests of Hungary.”
