Orbán: ‘Migration’ in Europe a ‘no-win situation’
The “migration crisis” in Europe today is “not a win-win, but a no-win situation”, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on the sidelines of the EU-Africa summit in Malta, Hungarian news agency MTI reported yesterday.

Orbán said it was a “risky issue” at the meeting when EU leaders began speaking about the benefits of “migration”, insisting that when managed well, it could bring a lot of benefits, Orbán told state-owned all-news channel M1 yesterday.
He said he did not agree with this position and stressed that he had been telling EU leaders otherwise during the summit, which began in Valetta on Wednesday, MTI reported.
The EU is “not very effective” in handling “migration” because member states are “lacking in will”, the prime minister said. Leaders of the 28 EU member states have insisted that the “migration” influx cannot be stopped, yet as soon as several Greek boat captains decided to deny transport to refugees from the islands, this helped stop the wave immediately, he said.
“We have evidence, Hungaryʼs border fence aside, that the EU lacks the will to stop this inflow,” he said. “The sad truth is that a few Greek ferry captains are more efficient in combating migration than the 28 EU prime ministers have been after numerous meetings,” Orbán said.
