Officials: Hungary, Poland should strengthen ties post-Brexit
Hungary and Poland would benefit from strengthened bilateral relations following the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union, officials from both countries’ foreign ministries agreed at a meeting yesterday, according to thenews.pl.
Kristóf Altusz, undersecretary of state at the Hungarian Ministry of Trade and Foreign Affairs met with Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk to discuss economic cooperation and other matters.
Trade between the two countries increased in value to nearly EUR 8 bln in 2015, Kacperczyk reportedly said at the meeting.
Energy, security policy, and the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, were also discussed during the talks. The representatives from both countries agreed that it was necessary to strengthen regional cooperation and make their opinions heard at the European level regarding the future of the EU, according to thenews.pl.
The meeting reportedly concluded as Kacperczyk shared the goals of the upcoming Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group, which is to start tomorrow.
