Ministry: No intention of scrapping local tourism tax
Neither the local tourism tax nor a state tourism top-up will be abolished, the National Economy Ministry said in a statement on Friday, according to state news agency MTI.
Tourism is an area of key importance for the government and it will provide all the support it can to keep it an engine of growth for the economy, the ministry said. Earlier in June, state secretary Béla Glattfelder suggested that the government was considering scrapping the tourism tax and using the state top-up for hotel or spa development projects.
