Lázár: The EU needs to be fixed
The U.K.ʼs June 23 Brexit vote is the fault of Brussels, and is an indication that there are serious problems with the European Union that the EU needs to address, Hungary’s Cabinet Chief János Lázár said today during his weekly press conference.

“I am pessimistic about whether the institutional system of the European Union can be fixed”, Lázár said, stressing that “Europe does not equal to the EU and Brussels”. According to Lázár the processes in Brussels lead to “bureaucracy, troubles and hardship”, Hungarian online daily index.hu reported. “We must not give up working on fixing the EU”, Lázár emphasized.
Lázár went on to complain about Hungarian news coverage of the U.K. referendum. “It is pathetic how some outlets of the Hungarian media campaign against those people who voted for the Brexit, and how they are tagged as provincial idiots,” he said.
Lázár said that the U.K. is one of the most successful nations of the last 300 years. “Their exiting from the bloc is the result of the wrong policies of the EU, it is the failure of Brussels”, Lázár said.
