Justice Minister: No better solution than border fence

Parliament

In order to "stop a daily 1,500-1,600 illegal newcomers" who arrive in a "professionally organized manner," Hungary has no other viable option than to build a fence along its border with Serbia, Justice Minister László Trocsányi told Serbiaʼs Pannon TV, Hungarian news agency MTI reported today.

Trocsányi claims that earlier international agreements "cannot handle the current exodus, where millions flee a continent" as they had originally intended to handle issue surrounding refugees from the former communist bloc.

The Justice Minister hopes the fence will alleviate the mass migrationʼs impact on Hungary, saying, "we cannot stop them but we want them to avoid this area". He also said that the majority of Hungarian voters support the construction of the fence and "think that the border should be crossed at facilities designated for that purpose."
