Hungary could introduce legislation on drone usage

Analysis

The Hungarian Parliament is preparing a draft bill to regulate drone usage in Hungary, and a final version could be ready by mid-2016, András Farkas of the National Transport Authority’s Aviation Office said, Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported.

According to Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap, thousands of drones are owned by firms and private individuals in the country. Farkas said that officials are investigating the proposal to establish “aerial docking stations” to enable the take of and landing of drones.

Zoltán Ozoli, the authorityʼs engineer, noted that the frequencies used by these drones need to be regulated. He added that the bill would likely make “autonomous homecoming” required, which means that a drone should be able to “go home” in the event that its navigator loses control of the device.
