Hungarian government plans cuts to fostered workers
As part of the Hungarian government’s attempts to reduce bureaucracy, the number of fostered workers is expected to be reduced as of this fall, state secretary Nándor Csepreghy said at a business forum today, according to reports.
According to the state secretary, it would be “inappropriate” for people whose jobs are being cut in the public sector to “crop up” among fostered workers, Hungarian news agency MTI reported. He stressed that former public sector staff should find work on the labor market, rather than entering the social welfare system, MTI reported.
Citing recent data by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, MTI reported that approximately 194,000 Hungarians are currently participating in fostered work schemes.
