TOO SMALL

The Hungarian government launched a revamped tourism agency designated as the Hungarian Tourism Agency, which will have a broader reach and be free from the “constraints of public administration”, National Development Minister Miklós Seszták told journalists yesterday, according to reports.

The minister said that all staff of the old tourism agency Magyar Turizmus will be offered jobs under the new system.

The agency will be led by Zoltán Guller under the supervision of government commissioner Gusztáv Bienerth, while the development ministry will provide the institutional and infrastructural foundation for the entity, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The organization is expected to lead tourism strategy and structure, and cooperate with the national development minister, Seszták said, adding that the agency deals with all matters related to tourism, from product development to coordinating events to setting up and maintaining representative offices abroad.

The agencyʼs most important task would be to assist market players, as the new structure better supports outside players, Guller said.
