Government may cancel ad tax

The government is considering cancelling the advertisement tax as it is not likely to contribute to the state budget as much as expected, according to a report published in hvg.hu today. RTL Klub turned to Brussels for help and RTL Klub’s “anti-government” evening news show is growing in popularity, the Hungarian economics said, citing unnamed sources.

Net giants Google and Facebook are unphased by the advertisement tax, while their Hungarian employees can barely cope with all the documenting and paperwork. Anonymous sources suggested that the cabinet has realized that the advertisement tax was poorly constructed and is planning to abandon it.
