The Hungarian government decided to allocate a total of HUF 40 billion for its revamped home subsidy purchase program for families with children (CSOK) in this year’s budget, Cabinet Chief János Lázár said yesterday, according to reports.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, the minister said that the allocation is not expected to have an upper limit, and he assured those present that it could be raised if high demand makes it necessary.

The cabinet chief said that approximately 80-90% of the Hungarian population agrees with the government in measures to support families with children, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The government is expected to publish two decrees in the coming weeks to unify the regulations on subsidized home purchases, according to MTI.
