One lane closed on M1 for refugees walking to Vienna
About 1,000 refugees who set of on foot from Keleti Train Station shortly after noon today on route to Vienna were walking along the shoulder of the M1 highway by 4 p.m., according to reports. Police tried unsuccessfully to divert the group onto Route 1. Police closed one of the lanes on the M1 and cars are traveling in the passing lane.

Roughly 1,000 refugees who have been camping out at the underpass of Keleti station packed their belongings, and making their way down Rakoczi út, in central Budapest, single file so as to not disrupt traffic, index.hu reported. They are being led by a Syrian amputee on crutches.
An initial group of 300-400 set off and were soon followed by others, according to reports.
The group was making its way towards Buda peacefully early this afternoon. Sources told the media that the police have no intention of letting them out of the country before they register in Hungary, as is required by EU law.
This afternoon, the police were reportedly uninformed as to what point they will be required to stop the procession.
