Croatia’s president defends Hungarian fence, urges fence for Croatia

Hungary cannot be blamed for trying to protect its borders, and Croatia needs to protect its own borders Croatia’s President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović said in an interview with Croatian daily Jutarnji List, according to a report published today by online daily origo.hu.
Commenting on the criticism of the razor coil fence Hungary has built on the Croatian border, the president (pictured) reportedly said “we need to be fair to Hungary”. She added that Croatia should build “some kind of physical obstacle or a fence” to be able to deal with the refugee crisis.
Reports suggest that Croatia is currently transporting refugees to the Hungarian border and local authorities are then transporting them further to Hegyeshalom at the Austrian border. Hungary has expanded the fence on the Serbian border to the entire length of Hungaryʼs border with Croatia, however the border has not yet been sealed according to reports.
