Engineering education traditionally strong in Hungary

Conferences

Institutions of technical higher education in Hungary have traditionally given a high-level knowledge base to their graduates. Nonetheless, specialized extension and intensification of the acquired general knowledge is the duty of employers, such as evosoft Hungary Kft.

evosoft group’s single owner is Siemens, and evosoft only participates in the design and development of Siemens products, e.g. in the fields of industrial automation technology, drive technology, medical diagnostics and mobility – products that are of key importance on the world market. evosoft takes part in the entire software product development lifecycle, from design through development to the testing of ready systems. We are proud to work on technical products that shape the world.

As important employers of the IT market, we get the impression that universities do not always emphasize education covering the most recent technologies. Although it has to be added that this is not always necessary, a stable basic knowledge that companies can rely on may be much more essential. Students can now choose from more and more practice-oriented education courses and they can now study at universities that had no real IT education a decade ago. It makes us happy to see so many educational opportunities emerge, but we regret that the number of students who start their curriculum without eventually finishing it is increasing. Generally speaking, there is a large demand for IT experts and engineers, but there are not enough graduates with proper skills as employees. The majority of evosoft staff starts working for the company with a BSc or MSc diploma, but a fair number of students can get work practice with us too. New positions open continuously, currently new employment is offered for 50 people. The fact that you have earned a BSc or MSc diploma will not determine your career. Instead, motivation, dedication and a willingness to learn become a lot more important. Perhaps I could say that those with an MSc degree can move faster in their career in the beginning, but there are some exceptions, of course. Learning continues here when you start working for evosoft, with various forms of professional, soft skill and language trainings. evosoft spends almost twice as much as the average salary in Hungary on training each worker every year.

A good engineer must have excellent technical knowledge, but must also be able to cooperate as a communicative team player, working with others creatively and constructively. This is actually just as important as professional expertise. Furthermore, the work has to be carried out in a foreign language (English or German). That is why it is one of our expectations of staff that each engineer in the company should know one of these languages at an advanced level. Unfortunately, engineers who have just graduated do not speak these languages at an adequate level, which is why we assist them with language training. We wish they would bring this knowledge with themselves when they finish school. I think young engineers should seriously consider that a high level knowledge of a foreign language is one of the basic conditions of employment almost everywhere today.
