POS terminal numbers climb 9%
The number of point-of-sale bankcard terminals in Hungary climbed 9% year-on-year to 107,800 in the third-quarter, data released by the National Bank of Hungary shows.
The number of terminals at physical points of sales increased 5% to 85,100. The other terminals were either virtual, used by online retailers, or at post offices.
The number of POS bankcard terminals has risen by about 62% since late 2010.
Hungaryʼs government made the use of tills connected directly to the tax office mandatory for a number of businesses in 2014 in an effort to crack down on tax evasion. The scope of businesses affected by the rule has since been expanded.
