Ganz EEG to supply mini hydropower plant to Georgia
Hungarian-Russian joint venture Ganz Engineering and Energy Production Machinery (Ganz EEG) has agreed with the Georgian International Energy Corporation to supply a mini hydropower plant to be installed in Georgia in the first half of 2017, Ganz EEG told Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday.
Company head Attila Szitar-Csanádi said Ganz EEG can expect further orders for similar hydroelectric plants later on. He added that Ganz EEG started developing its mini hydroelectric power plant in 2013, with a HUF 185 million grant from the Hungarian government and the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund.
The mini hydroelectric plant has been designed following a survey of the local conditions, based on hydrogeological data and the clientʼs needs, and will then be manufactured in Budapest and fitted into two standard containers along with electric controls, the CEO explained.
Rosatom International Network, the international marketing arm of Russiaʼs state-owned nuclear power giant Rosatom, is cooperating in the sale of the product, and talks are underway with Indonesia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as with Latin American and African countries, on possible sales of the mini hydropower plant, the company said.
Ganz EEG is fully owned by Rosatom, which is the general contractor for the Paks nuclear plant upgrade. The company manufactures water pumps and various other power station equipment. It has been regularly supplying nuclear power station projects in Russia, MTI reports.
