The Visegrád Four countries – Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia – will jointly press the European Commission to take measures affecting the dairy sector at an extraordinary meeting of the Agriculture Council on September 7, the farm ministryʼs press office said yesterday.

The office issued the statement after a meeting with representatives of the farm ministries of the V4, joined by their counterparts from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Romania and Austria, in Ceske Budejovice, the Czech Republic.

The V4 partners also discussed cracking down on fraud in the food sector, strengthening cross-border cooperation and using electronic systems for the exchange of information. In addition, they urged the establishment of a forum of experts to discuss ways of dealing with soil erosion.
