Tax office could become state secretariat
Hungaryʼs National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) could be transformed into a state secretariat and operated under the aegis of a ministry, Hungarian economic daily Napi Gazdaság reported today.
Citing complaints about the authority’s work, the daily said that a number of government members expressed the need for changes to the authority’s staff over the summer. The paper noted that if NAV becomes part of a ministry, such changes would be easier to administer.
Cabinet Chief János Lázár reportedly said yesterday that no decision on a restructuring of NAV had been made, adding that no changes are planned to the governmentʼs ministerial structure either.
