Szijjártó discusses Budapest-Belgrade rail line upgrade with Chinese official

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó met with deputy head of Chinaʼs National Development and Reform Commission Wang Xiaotao for talks on the upgrade of the Budapest-Belgrade rail line yesterday, the foreign ministry said, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
The sides agreed that a legal solution must be worked out that will bring the investment in full compliance with European rules, the ministry said.
China is financing 85% of the HUF 472 billion cost of the upgrade, which will make the line part of a corridor for bringing Chinese goods to Europe.
