Survey: Hungary SME confidence slips in Q2

Analysis

Confidence among SMEs in Hungary deteriorated in the second quarter from the previous one, a gauge of sentiment by the Institute for Economic and Enterprise Research (GVI) of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) shows.

The SME confidence index fell to 27 points in July from 31 points in April, interrupting an improving trend that began in October, the survey showed, as reported by news agency MTI yesterday.

Although SMEsʼ assessment of their position at present improved, their outlook deteriorated for investment activity, headcount, use of capacity, output and profitability.

The uncertainty indicator stood at 36 points, little changed from 37 points in the previous quarter.

The indices gauge sentiment on a scale of -100 points to 100 points.
