Voluntary Pension Fund Contributions up 8% in 2023

Voluntary pension fund contributions rose 8.2% to HUF 152.6 billion in 2023, data released by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) show.

Contributions by members increased 7.7% to HUF 128.1 bln. Employer contributions grew 12.9% to HUF 42.3 bln.

There were 28 voluntary pension funds operating in Hungary at the end of 2023, two fewer than a year earlier.

Membership numbers at the pension funds stood at 1,073,200 at the end of December, down 19,000 from 12 months earlier.
