SSC headcount in Hungary could climb 9% this year

Headcount at shared service centers (SSCs) in Hungary is expected to rise by 9% this year, or approximately 3,600 staff, Hungarian economic daily Világgazdaság reported today.
More than 100 SSCs operate in Hungary and employ approximately 37,000 people, Hungarian news agency MTI reported, citing the database of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA).
The SSC sector is an attractive field for young, talented Hungarians looking to learn more languages without leaving the country to work abroad, Sándor Baja, the managing director of Randstad Hungary told the paper. He added that the sector is so attractive that even foreigners come to Hungary to work in the field.
Career-starters can make anywhere from HUF 230,000-400,000 a month at SSCs where the average pay is HUF 390,000, well above the average Hungarian wage of HUF 250,000, Hungarian news agency MTI said.
