Report: Hungary, U.S. discuss agriculture, TTIP
Hungary’s Agriculture Minister Sándor Fazekas and U.S. Under Secretary of Agriculture for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse held talks in Washington yesterday, Hungarian news agency MTI reported this morning.
Fazekas and Scuse discussed the crisis in the dairy sector, veterinary issues, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the export of Hungarian farm products to American markets, MTI added.
The Hungarian minister told the news agency that Hungary is for the TTIP, however, only if it is mutually beneficial. He stressed that veterinary regulations are especially important for Hungary and the country is committed to remaining GMO-free, MTI reported.
The minister is scheduled to hold talks in New York today before traveling to Montreal and Toronto.
