With the introduction of a new career path model, employees of Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) are expected to receive 30%-50% in pay raises, András Tállai (pictured), state secretary and NAV chief, said yesterday, according to reports.

Employees who work in positions regulated by the NAV Act will receive a 50% pay raise in three steps while employees working in positions regulated by the Labor Code will receive a one-off 30% pay raise, the state secretary said, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to Tállai, the introduction of the model is necessary to support and offer incentives for the office’s professionals, as too many of NAV’s best employees have left the authority for the private sector and other state institutions, MTI reported.

As of July, the authority’s budget is scheduled to increase by HUF 7 billion, reallocated from fiscal reserves, the state secretary said, adding that the remainder necessary for the changes is to be included in the 2017 budget.
