Tourism

The number of sold homes in Hungary in July exceeded 12,350, reaching a peak for any month other than January 2012, Hungarian economy daily Napi Gazdasag said in a report yesterday, citing data by Hungarian real estate broker Duna House.

The paper noted, that in January 2012, Hungarians rushed to take advantage of a one-off government scheme allowing early repayment of foreign currency-denominated mortgages at below-market rates.

Duna House data suggest the number of home transactions was over 12,000 every month from April to June. The number of transactions for January-July came to 80,000, as compared to 55,000 sales in the same period a year earlier.
