The value of public procurements in Hungary fell 25.6% to HUF 866.1 bln in the first half from the same period a year earlier, the office that manages the procedures told MTI.

The Public Procurement Office attributed the decline to a fall in the number of tenders financed with European Union funding. The value of tenders supported by the funding dropped to HUF 271.7 bln from HUF 641.5 bln during the period.

The overall number of public procurements fell 19% to 5,622 in H1. About 37% were for services, 31% for goods and 31% for construction.

In value terms, construction procurements accounted for 41.6% of the total, while goods made up 32.1% and services 26.2%.

The participation rate of microbusinesses and SMEs in public procurements reached 49%, in value terms, in H1, up from 40.7% in the same period a year earlier.

Parties launched 535 disputes against decisions with Hungaryʼs Public Procurement Arbitration Board (KDB) in H1, about 64% more than in the same period a year earlier. The board noted violations in 95 cases.
