Hungaryʼs National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) is preparing to offer licences in six frequency bands in an effort to meet the needs of mobile broadband providers, and possibly broadcasters too, NMHH chief director Janka Borcs Aranyos said yesterday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

NMHH will call tenders for frequencies in the 700 MHz band, the 1,400-1,500 MHz band, the 2,100 MHz band, the 2,300-2,400 MHz band the 2,600 MHz band and the 3,400-3,800 MHz band.

Aranyos said his authorityʼs strategy prioritises satisfying growing demand for broadband mobile services, terrestrial broadcasting and digitalization.

The chief director noted that domestic mobile service providers currently have 500 MHz of frequency bands at their disposal but demand is around 1,200 MHz mainly because of the need for 5G system developments.
