New duties for development minister
The government has assigned responsibilities for coordinating government activities including oversight of postal affairs and the state-owned Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) to the Minister of National Development from July 30, according to a resolution published in the official gazette Magyar Közlöny, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
The government has eliminated the position of state secretary for national financial services and postal affairs at the Prime Ministerʼs Office and appointed a government commissioner to perform these duties, whose work schedule, officials and staff have been assigned to the Ministry of National Development.
János Lázár, the minister heading the Prime Ministerʼs Office, announced on June 30 the retirement of Zsuzsanna Németh, formerly state secretary for postal affairs and national financial services. Andrea Bártfai-Máger, who has been appointed to replace her as government commissioner, has resigned her membership of the Monetary Policy Council of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB).
In a resolution published on July 6, the government instructed the new government commissioner to prepare a comprehensive strategy in order to ensure the stable long-term performance of postal and national financial services, and to submit a proposal to the government for the necessary restructuring by September 15.
