Nearly 3,600 individuals, 3,100 companies on Hungarian tax authorityʼs blacklist

At the end of September there were 3,597 private taxpayers and self-employed individuals owing more than HUF 10 mln each in back taxes, at least 180 days overdue, according to figures from the Hungarian tax authority NAV, MTI reported today.

The debtorsʼ list, updated on a quarterly basis, is headed by one individual, Zhou Tejiao, who owes HUF 13.6 bln. He is the owner of a company no longer in operation.

NAV has also published a list of the 3,100 companies owing more than HUF 100 mln in back taxes, headed by Karlo Invest, a wholesaler owned by Slovenian businessman Karlo Cipak, with a tax debt of HUF 3.6 bln.

Most of the companies with tax arrears are no longer in operation.
