The Hungarian government is planning to spend HUF 150 billion to set up and improve industrial parks in 2016-2018, Cabinet Chief János Lázár, said yesterday during his weekly press conference, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

Lázár said the program could play an important part in establishing sustainable economic growth and creating jobs. The National Development Ministry has been allocated HUF 50 bln for the task in 2016, he added.

The government will make efforts to revitalize the six state-owned industrial parks under its management, as they are not performing their function, Lázár said.

Lázár added that industrial parks would be established in 13 cities with county seat standing and options for a further twelve cities were being weighed. The 122 towns and cities that already have industrial parks will need to improve them, he added.

Some of the investments could be carried out as part of the governmentʼs “Modern Cities Program” for which the 2017 budget bill would allocate HUF 152 bln.
