Lázár: Gov’t invites no labor from abroad
The Hungarian government is not taking steps to invite labor from abroad to fill shortages, Hungary’s Cabinet Chief János Lázár said yesterday.
The idea of easing labor shortages in some sectors of the country by inviting foreign workers from outside of the European Union was raised by national business association MGYOSZ, and National Economy Minister Mihály Varga reportedly agreed with it.
During his regular weekly press conference, Lázár stressed that the Hungarian government believes the answer for labor shortages is to transform the specialized training system, according to online daily hvg.hu. He said he understands that capitalists would rather invite an outside labor force, but the Hungarian government does not support the proposal. “First those need to be helped who are in trouble here”, Lázár said.
Lázár said that hundreds of thousands of Roma and people on workfare “need to be led back to the world of working”, according to hvg.hu.
