KSH: Trade surplus at €482 mln in July

Hungary had a €482 mln trade surplus in July, up €50 mln year-on-year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) revealed in its second estimate report today. This was less than the €497.6 mln trade surplus KSH had projected in its first estimate report a month earlier.

Exports grew by 9.2% and reached €7.3 bln. Imports were up 9% at €6.8 bln.

In the first seven months of 2014, 79% of the country’s exports went to other European Union countries and 75% of the country's imports arrived from the EU.

In the first half of 2014, trade surplus came to €3.8 bln, growing by €237 mln year-on-year.

In the machinery and vehicles segment, exports were up 10%, while imports increased by 9.3%, comparing to the same period of the previous year.

In the manufacturing segment, which accounts for about one third of the total goods, sale exports rose 6.7% and imports were up 10%.

Exports of food, tobacco and beverages showed an increase of 7.6%, while imports grew 7.2%.

Energy imports rose 9% in volume terms while forint prices declined.
